The Chathams Announce Opening of 2026 “Hometown Heroes” Banner Applications

The Chatham community is proud to announce the opening of applications for its 2026 round of the “Hometown Heroes” Banner Program, an initiative designed to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The program is accepting applications until Friday, March 20th, and more information on how to nominate veterans can be found below.
The Hometown Heroes Banner Advisory Committee invites residents of both the Township and Borough to submit the names of family members or local veterans on the Banner Submission form, alongside a check for $150.00 made out to “Borough of Chatham” and with “Hometown Heroes Banner” in the memo line. Applications and Checks can be dropped off or mailed to: Borough of Chatham, ATTN: Military Banners, 54 Fairmount Avenue, Chatham, NJ 07928. Applications may also be emailed to [email protected].
Each honoree will be featured on an individual banner, proudly displayed on light poles throughout the central business district. The banners will be installed in time for Memorial Day 2026 and remain up through the 4th of July. To support the project, municipal officials have established a trust fund to receive any fees or donations. The committee is also partnering with the Gates Flag & Banner Company to bring these banners to the central business district.
