February Monthly Message From Mayor Michael Choi

February 26, 2025

The body of work for this evening’s agenda demonstrates the blocking and tackling that is important to sustaining the operations of the Township. It is putting into place measures…and proactively taking action…to attract and retain capable employees and volunteers so that we have departments and boards running smoothly, that is to say, appropriately staffed with capable individuals and performing their duties well for our community members. It is implementing agreements for the smooth operation of the newest affordable housing development in town as well as optimizing revenue sources for the Township. It is investing in Township assets to safeguard them and to promote the continued operation of the various departments and activities taking place in these facilities. A variety of small and larger potatoes in the mix, but matter which are all important nonetheless.

We have ahead of us some big potatoes. We are well aware of the forthcoming deadlines in early summer with regard to the fourth round affordable housing obligations. We completed our first step in January, which I believe put us in a more favorable position to execute on our housing plan. We are well underway in collaborating with our professionals and exploring all options to meet the obligation. Our library has already completed its first phase of renovations, with much more extensive work to come. Township involvement is anticipated, and we are working with the library and Borough to chart an optimal course of action to make the complete renovations a reality for the Library.

Suffice to say that we have multiple burners on the stove running. I am delighted to report that this Committee is feverishly cooking, making what I believe are sound decisions on smaller but important matters (the amouse bouces and appetizers, if you will) as well as keeping sight of the future main courses which require our discernment in the months to come. Let’s get cooking with tonight’s agenda!

Please note our new Municipal Building hours of 8AM-4PM. The Construction Department closes at 3PM.
