Chatham Township Property Revaluation Information Mailed to Property Owners
Following a 2024 announcement that the Morris Country Board of Taxation issued an order to the Township of Chatham to begin a revaluation of all property in the municipality, an effort has been underway to comply and complete the process. On May 21, 2024, the Township Committee adopted Resolution 2024-128 to award a contract to Mott McDonald to update the existing tax maps and create new digital tax maps. The maps were approved by the State of New Jersey on May 30, 2025. On January 28, 2025, the Township Committee adopted Resolution 2025-058 to award a contract for the revaluation to Appraisal Systems, Inc. The purpose of the revaluation program is to fairly distribute the tax burden among all property owners based upon the market value of their property.
A letter is being mailed townwide to all property owners to provide more information with details about the inspection process and public presentations. This mailing also includes “Frequently Asked Questions” and a brochure from Appraisal Systems, Inc.
There will be two presentations explaining the revaluation process conducted at the Township’s Municipal Building, located at 58 Meyersville Rd. The sessions will be held on Tuesday, September 9th at 7:45pm and Thursday, September 25th at 6:00pm.
Updates and more information will also be available on a dedicated page on the Appraisal Systems website at http://www.asinj.com/revaluation.asp?p=current&id=554. All inquiries regarding the inspection procedure or the revaluation process should be directed to Appraisal Systems by calling (201) 493-8530.
