Chatham Township Partners with LEW Environmental to Facilitate State-Mandated Lead Paint Inspections
New Jersey’s Lead Safe Law, N.J.A.C. 5:28A, states that all rental properties, with specific exemptions, are required to have visual inspections performed to identify possible health hazards from the presence of lead paint. Chatham Township has partnered with LEW Environmental Services to ensure compliance with New Jersey’s Lead Safe Certification Law.
Through this partnership, LEW Environmental will handle all record updates, compliance tracking, and education, as well as provide lead-paint inspections at a contracted rate on behalf of Chatham Township. Landlords are strongly encouraged to reach out to LEW Environmental to help them prepare for inspections or determine if their property meets any qualifications for exemption. The deadline for rental properties in Chatham Township to have their inspections scheduled is April 30, 2026.
