Township Announces 2023 Road Resurfacing Project – UPDATED 8/7/2023
The Township of Chatham is pleased to announce the commencement of the 2023 Road Resurfacing Project, following the adoption of Ordinance 2023-07 and Resolution 2023-154 on July 18, 2023. The ordinance allocated $500,000 in capital funds for roadwork, which will greatly contribute to improving the infrastructure and quality of life for Chatham residents.
In line with the approved resolution, a contract has been awarded to Schifano Construction Corporation through the Morris County Cooperative Pricing Council. This contract, valued at $447,000, allows for the resurfacing of School Avenue, Thornley Avenue, Maple Street, Floral Street, and Spring Street.
The preliminary schedule for the resurfacing project is as follows:
Street Name | Milling Date | Paving Date |
---|---|---|
Maple Street | COMPLETE | COMPLETE |
School Avenue (From Maple St to Floral St) | COMPLETE | COMPLETE |
Floral Street | COMPLETE | COMPLETE |
School Avenue(From Floral St to Spring St) | COMPLETE | Tuesday August 8, 2023 |
Thornley Drive | COMPLETE | Tuesday August 8, 2023 |
Please note, this schedule is tentative and subject to change based on weather conditions. Full road closures are proposed during this period, but we will ensure limited access for residents during the milling phase.
Mayor Ashley Felice commented on the project, saying, “This investment in our Township’s infrastructure underscores our commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our residents. We understand the temporary inconvenience that road resurfacing can bring, but we are confident that these upgrades will greatly enhance the driving experience and overall safety in our community.”
