NOTICE OF PENDING ORDINANCE AND PUBLIC HEARING

ORDINANCE 2026-05

ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF CHATHAM, IN THE COUNTY OF MORRIS, NEW JERSEY, ESTABLISHING AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS AND ADOPTING REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE ADMINISTRATION OF VERY LOW-, LOW-, AND MODERATE-INCOME HOUSING UNITS

Notice is hereby given that the ordinance referenced above was introduced for first reading by the Township Committee of the Township of Chatham at a meeting held on February 24, 2026.

The purpose of the ordinance is to amend the Township Code, specifically Chapter 29 to establish regulations and requirements governing the administration of the Township’s Affordable Housing Program, all in accordance with the Township’s Fourth Round Housing Element and Fair Share Plan.

A public hearing on the ordinance will be held on March 10, 2026 at 7:30 PM, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at the Municipal Building, 58 Meyersville Road, Chatham, New Jersey, at which time all persons interested shall be given an opportunity to be heard concerning the ordinance. Final adoption may occur at that time.

A copy of this ordinance has been posted on the Township Website at www.chathamtownship.org  as well as on the bulletin board upon which public notices are customarily posted in the Chatham Township Municipal Building during the week prior to and including the date of such meeting; copies of the ordinance are available to the general public of the Township who shall request such copies, at the office of the Township Clerk in said Township of Chatham, in the County of Morris, New Jersey.
