Township Committee Presents Citizen’s Award to Longtime Residents Pat & Martha Wells

October 23, 2024

Longtime residents Pat & Martha Wells were honored by Mayor Ewald and the Township Committee during the committee meeting on October 22nd, 2024, where they were presented with Chatham Township Citizen’s Awards for their longtime service to the community.

The Wells are avid caretakers of Chatham Township’s history, having led the Chatham Township Historical Society for over a decade and recently spearheading the exterior restoration of the Red Brick Schoolhouse Museum, including securing over half a million dollars in funding for the project. In addition, they have written and presented numerous articles and stories about the artifacts, events, and people throughout the Township’s storied history.

In addition to their contributions to historical preservation, the Wells are both members of the Garden Club of The Chathams and volunteer with the Great Swamp Watershed Association, helping to preserve the beauty of nature alongside our history.

Martha is also a member of the Morris County Preservation Trust Fund and is the secretary of the Morris County Heritage Commission. Pat is also a member of the Chatham Township Environmental Commission.

Thank you both for your loving and dedicated service to our town, and congratulations Pat and Martha Wells!
