Utility Company Announces Water Main Construction to Begin on Green Village & Spring Valley Road

New Jersey American Water, a private utility company, has informed the Township of Chatham of imminent plans to replace the aging water main, originally installed in the 1930s, that runs along Green Village Road and Spring Valley Road. The work will be concentrated between Britten Road in Chatham Township and Douglas Road in Harding Township.

The work is expected to begin on or around October 14th, 2024 and run through January 2025, weather permitting. Be aware that while work is occurring, road closures and detours will be in place to help ensure the safety of the workers, so please plan travel accordingly as traffic will be impacted.

In addition to replacing the water main, the project will also upgrade the fire hydrants and utility-owned service lines along the main. Properties that will be affected by the service line replacement will be contacted by New Jersey American Water for more information.
