Township Committee Presents Citizen’s Award to Joe Basralian
At the October 22nd, 2024 Township Committee meeting, Open Space Committe Chairman Joe Basralian was honored by Mayor Ewald and the Township Committee, who presented him with a Chatham Township Citizen’s Awards for his dedicated service to the community.
Mr. Basralian have been serving as Chairman of the Open Space Committee since 2011, and has been indispensable in evaluating and protecting sensitive lands, parks, and trails. Recently, he was instrumental in securing the necessary funds for the township to acquire the seven acre Fenske Property for open space use, as well as connect our town with County resources to help improve our nature trails.
In addition to his work with Open Space, Mr. Basralian formed BSA Troop 280 in 2019, the first female scout chapter in Chatham after the organization opted to become co-ed. The troop has since helped to improve the Green Village Conservation Trail and build the Shunpike Trail.
Thank you for your loving effort to protect our town’s natural beauty, and congratulations Mr. Basralian!
