Status Update regarding the extension for the Township’s Affordable Housing agreement
On December 12, 2019, the Township Committee of the Township of Chatham adopted a Resolution seeking that the Superior Court of New Jersey grant the Township additional time within which to adopt a constitutionally compliant affordable housing plan.
At the December 17, 2019 affordable housing Case Management Conference, the Superior Court Judge overseeing the Township’s affordable housing litigation did not grant the Township’s request for an extension but instead ordered that the Township file a motion seeking to extend the time and ordered the following schedule:
- January 10, 2020 – Township to file motion and supporting papers.
- January 24, 2020 – Fair Share Housing Center, Inc., to file any opposition and cross-motions.
- February 7, 2020 – Township to file reply to opposition and cross-motions.
- February 12, 2020 – Court Appointed Special Master to file report regarding motion, opposition and cross-motions.
- February 14, 2020 at 1:30PM – Superior Court hearing on motion, opposition and cross-motions before Judge Michael C. Gaus, at the Sussex County Courthouse, 43-47 High Street, 2nd Floor.
