Chatham Township Announces New Operating Hours for Municipal Building
Effective January 2, 2025, the Chatham Township Municipal Building will operate under new hours to better serve residents, taxpayers, and visitors. The building will open to the public for municipal business from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., extending the window of opportunity for individuals to take care of business before their workday begins. The Construction Department will also open to the public at 8:00 a.m. but will close to the public at 3:00 p.m. so the remainder of the workday can be allocated to processing permits and completing administrative tasks. This adjustment ensures improved efficiency in handling construction and building-related matters.
Township Administrator Ziad Andrew Shehady noted, “These changes reflect our commitment to enhancing customer service and accessibility.” Currently, the revamped Township website (www.chathamtownship.org) offers some self-service options such as the SDL Portal for tracking building permits, scheduling inspections, retrieving accident reports, and submitting overnight parking requests. Throughout 2024, Chatham Township has been working diligently to enhance its e-government services, which are expected to launch in 2025. These services will include online payments for permits, fees, and applications, as well as online pet licensing.
Residents are also encouraged to sign up for the Township’s new email newsletter, planned for release in 2025. The registration form is available on the Township website (www.chathamtownship.org/alerts) and subscribers will receive updates on services, events, and initiatives. Shehady added, “Chatham Township remains devoted to modernizing and streamlining services to better meet the needs of the community.”
